Toyota Tundra 2013

The Toyota company is about to reveal its new Tundra in Chicago

The Tundra model was last overhauled for the 2007 year. Toyota Motor Corp. is planning to unveil its all-new Tundra car, a full-sized pickup, during the Chicago Auto Show in February.

The redesigned, 3rd-generation Tundra is expected to appear on sale the coming spring and therefore will become the 3rd revamped pickup planned by automakers for the 2014 model year.

The companyís redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Silverado together with GMC Sierra pickups are expected to go on sale by early summer. Chrysler Group has updated the Ram pickup for the 2013 model year with more fuel-efficient powertrain offerings.

Automakers are counting on a steady recovery in the U.S. housing market to drive high demand for big pickups, which are one of the industry's most profitable cars.

Tundra was last overhauled for the 2007 model year. Toyota did not disclose any further information about the new Tundra, but the company, like other automakers, is somewhat under pressure to boost fuel economy without sacrificing power, performance or functionality.

Tundra sales increased 23 percent last year to 101,621 and the volume peaked in 2007 at almost 197,000.

The all-new 2013 Toyota RAV4 will be on display, just as the new Avalon, plus Corolla Furia Concept, which is a preview of the next Corolla. The company's motorsports operation will surely occupy a significant place of the Chicago stand.
