Car News /

Ford is recalling around 100,000 2013 Ford Escapes and 2013 Ford Fusions with 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine due to probable overheat, thus increasing the risk of an engine fire, was announced on December 03, 2012 by Ford Motor Company.
Ford strongly recommends its customers to contact their local dealers to organize alternative transportation at no cost until the moment the repair is performed. So far, the recall has no set date.

What Ford thinks about the case.

"Ford is willingly recalling these vehicles due to reports of engine overheating, results in engine fires meanwhile the engine is working," Ford says. "No injuries have been reported as of now."
It adds: "Some drivers who experienced high engine temperatures fand then engine fire state that their clusters have shown the following message "Engine Power Reduced To Lower Temps" or "Engine over temp, stop safely." Some drivers indicated that their instrument clusters chimed a sound and illuminated in red. Drivers who see any of these indications should carefully pull off the road as soon as it is possible, turn off the engine and go out of the car." Ford notifies its specialists are working on a repair. When parts come in stock, the company will notify the customers.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which watches vehicle recalls within U. S., has not published information about any recall on its Web site yet. Ford notes that 2013 Ford Escapes with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines are not included in the recall. The same concerns 2013 Ford Fusions with the 2.5-liter and hybrid engines.
