Goodwood, United Kingdom - Rolls-Royce Motor Cars todayrevealed the first design sketches of its next new model. Known as RR4, thecar is due to be launched in 2010 and will sit alongside the Phantom modelline-up. RR4 will be smaller than Phantom and powered by a new engine, unique to Rolls-Royce.

The design was signed off in 2007 and engineering development is nowfully underway. The Goodwood manufacturing facilities are being completelyreconfigured to accommodate the RR4, with extended paint, wood and leathershops as well as a second assembly line. The company will move to a twoshift system next year as it gears up for full production of the newmodel.

Chief designer, Ian Cameron, said, “Effortless performance andstandard-setting levels of comfort and efficiency, executed with the utmostcare and attention, remain fundamentals of Rolls-Royce design. The RR4 hasa more informal presence than the Phantom models with a greater emphasis ondriving. In design terms this is expressed through its slightly smallerdimensions and more organic form, yet with powerful, purposefulproportions. It is a true and uncompromising Rolls-Royce in everysense.”

We look forward to this next chapter withanticipation and confidence.”

Further design and engineering details will be announced during thecourse of 2009.

2009 Civic Sedan review
The Civic’s base price of $15,505 compares favorably with its direct competitor, the Toyota Corolla ($15,350), the outgoing Mazda 3 i Sport ($15,360), and Hyundai Elantra GLS ($14,120). Fuel economy, ever important for buyers in this segment, is a frugal 26 city, 34 highway mpg. Notably, both the Ford Focus (24/35) and Chevrolet Cobalt XFE (25/37) achieve better highway mileage. The Cobalt is tops in its class for horsepower, too, with 155. The Civic’s 1.8L engine makes 140 hp.
