Audi at the AMI in Leipzig: a spectacular array of premiers

INGOLSTADT, GERMANY - A spectacular array of premiersawaits visitors to the Audi booth at the 2008 AMI in Leipzig from April5-13. The Audi booth is located in Hall 1 of the Leipziger Messe exhibitioncenter. The focus is on the German premiers of the new Audi A4 Avant, theAudi A3 Cabriolet, the Audi Q7 V12 TDI, the Audi TTS – the sporty topmodel of the TT line – and the Audi TT TDI, the firstseries-production sports automobile to feature a diesel engine. Another highlightof the trade show: the Audi A1 project quattro concept automobile will be shownfor the first time in Europe. This automobile gives an idea of what theforthcoming Audi A1 might look like. Visitors will get to experience a trueworld premier: 160 hp, 6.7 liters of fuel per 100 km (35.11 mpg) –these are the impressive figures of the entry-level 1.8 TFSI engine in theAudi TT.

Audi has entered a new dimension with the A4 Sedan – as multiplehonors and a string of triumphs in numerous comparative tests confirm. Thelatest example: In Europe’s biggest reader survey, readers of the 26European editions of Autobild magazine selected the midsize sedan as“Europe’s No. 1 Car” by a wide margin. Now the new AudiA4 Avant follows – the sportiest and most stylish midsize stationwagon.

In addition to the high driving dynamics and captivating quality of theAudi A4, the Avant delivers added features for sport and leisure: Itsdynamic and elegant exterior contains up to 1,430 liters (50.50 cubic feet)of luggage volume and many ingenious details.

Sporty, elegant, emotion-packed – the new Audi A3 Cabriolet ismaking its appearance in perfect time for spring 2008. The convertible A3is the premium model within the compact class. Open-top driving fun, a roofthat folds down in less than 10 seconds and lots of room make the youngestmember of the Audi fleet of convertibles a highly attractive component ofthe compact convertible segment.

In the Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro, Audi takes its TDI technology to a newpeak: The Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro is the most powerful diesel automobile in itsclass. From a displacement of six liters, its V12 engine generates 500 hp(368 kW) and 1,000 Nm (737.56 lb-ft) of torque – lending the big SUVthe performance of a sports car.

In early summer, the Audi TTS – the top model in the TT line– will arrive at dealerships. Its two-liter TFSI engine is ahigh-performance unit that produces an impressive 272 hp (200 kW). Thisconcentrated power propels the TTS Coupe with S tronic from 0 to 100 km/h(62.14 mph) in just 5.2 seconds and on up to a regulated top speed of 250km/h (155.34 mph). The Audi TTS is available as a 2+2-seater coupe and as aroadster.

Along with the Audi TTS, Audi is also expanding its TT range with theAudi TT 2.0 TDI. This automobile combines sporty performance with outstandingefficiency. The Audi TT Coupe 2.0 TDI quattro and Audi TT Roadster 2.0 TDIquattro are the first series-production sport cars to be powered by dieselengines. This is a powerful combination: The new two-liter four-cylinderengine, which generates 170 hp (125 kW) and 350 Nm (258.15 lb-ft) oftorque, ensures dynamic propulsive power. Nonetheless, the TT Coupe and theTT Roadster use an average, respectively, of just 5.3 liters or 5.5 litersof fuel per 100 km (44.38 mpg or 44.77 mpg) – an unmatched level ofefficiency in the sports automobile segment.

And yet another newcomer has been added to the TT family: The 160 hpAudi TT 1.8 TFSI – available as a coupe or a roadster. The coupespeeds from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 7.2 seconds, with averagefuel consumption of just 6.7 liters per 100 km (35.11 mpg).

Audi is presenting its A1 project quattro concept automobile for the first timein Europe: It features a design for the subcompact class that is bothdistinctive and typical of the brand. The three-door four-seater carcombines dynamic contours with exemplary economy of space and superbquality. At the same time, its visionary technical solutions break newground in efficiency, dynamics and driving fun. This offers visitors aninitial impression of what the forthcoming Audi A1 has in store forthem.

On the press day at the AMI in Leipzig on April 4, Audi is offeringjournalists the chance to test-drive the new Audi A4 Avant, the Audi A3Cabriolet and the Audi A4 Sedan.
