2007 Mazda RX-8 Kuro

Car-reviews / Topspeed

With its spectacular styling and exclusive features, the limited edition Mazda RX-8 Kuro enhances an already multi-award-winning sports car.

The superior handling, performance and comfort of the Mazda RX-8 is renowned, as is the thrilling RENESIS rotary engine that powers it. And now the Mazda RX-8 Kuro raises the bar in terms of sporty sophistication.

Limited to just 500 models, each individually-numbered Mazda RX-8 Kuro bears the real mark of exclusivity.

Like the model on which it is based, the Mazda RX-8 Kuro is powerful and assured. With its dynamic shape and unique enhancements, it is a car for those who don’t mind being the centre of attention.

The unique Sparkling Black Mica paint is perfectly complemented by special 18” dark-silver alloy wheels. This is a car that wears its sporty heart on its sleeve, with its uniqueness highlighted by the bespoke stainless-steel scuff plates visually identifying which one of the 500 limited edition vehicles you are looking at.

Mazda RX-8 Kuro is further enhanced by a unique stone leather interior featuring co-ordinated steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake stitching. The darkened light bezels, Kuro-branded interior carpet mats and discreet exterior Kuro badging really make this car extra special.

At the heart of the Mazda RX-8 Kuro is the unique RENESIS rotary engine, producing a huge 231ps and delivering breathtaking performance.

This compact engine provides an ideal mounting position for the entire powertrain – low and behind the front axle – ensuring a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. It means that the Mazda RX-8 Kuro has exceptional agility and responsiveness, just as you should expect from a sports car.

Precision handling is provided by the double-wishbone front suspension. Multi-link rear suspension provides lateral stiffness for excellent handling and response while providing longitudinal compliance for outstanding stability, ride comfort and low road noise.

Finally the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) will both enhance your driving and act as an active safety feature. It monitors your wheel speeds, steering angles, braking function and yaw rate and applies brake force accordingly to one or more wheels, helping to reduce engine output and prevent skids.

2009 Civic Sedan review
The Civic’s base price of $15,505 compares favorably with its direct competitor, the Toyota Corolla ($15,350), the outgoing Mazda 3 i Sport ($15,360), and Hyundai Elantra GLS ($14,120). Fuel economy, ever important for buyers in this segment, is a frugal 26 city, 34 highway mpg. Notably, both the Ford Focus (24/35) and Chevrolet Cobalt XFE (25/37) achieve better highway mileage. The Cobalt is tops in its class for horsepower, too, with 155. The Civic’s 1.8L engine makes 140 hp.
