Isuzu Rodeo by Prodrive

Car-reviews / Topspeed

Isuzu’s new facelifted ’07 Rodeo is now available in range-topping Denver Max LE trim, complete with its standard Prodrive Performance Pack which boosts power from 136 to 167 hp. With first deliveries due in early June, the Denver Max LE offers the ultimate in pickup luxury at an affordable price – especially for business users.

Priced at £19,999 On-The-Road (excluding VAT) in manual form, standard equipment includes a Prodrive Performance Pack and 18ins Shadow Chrome alloy wheels with 255/60 Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyres. It also boasts leather seats and door inserts, an LE mesh grille, a tough load-liner and a new branded LE hard top.

In addition, customers benefit from a DVD satellite navigation system with touchscreen plus a high-tech Bluetooth kit – useful following recent legal changes regarding mobile ’phones. Other Max features include a soft-type front A-bar, chrome side steps, rear step bumper, rear light guards and brushed steel door entry guards.

This is in addition to air-conditioning, four electric windows, leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless-entry and selectable 4WD or 2WD at speeds up to 60 mph. Standard Prodrive Performance Pack

The Prodrive Performance Pack increases the totally new 2.5 litre turbo-diesel engine’s power from 136 PS to 167 PS at the same 3,600 rpm.Even more significant is the torque boost which leaps from an already healthy 217 lb ft at 1,800 rpm to 292.8 lb ft at 2,200 rpm.

This results in a massive improvement in mid-range acceleration and throttle response and makes the standard Rodeo’s 3,000 kg braked towing ability all the more effortless.Top speed is governed to 102.5 mph but the 0-62 mph time comes down from 12.8 to 11.7 seconds.

And while no official fuel consumption figures are available, Isuzu expects similar returns to the class-leading standard model which records 28.8, 39.8 and 24.9 mpg on the Urban/Extra Urban and Combined cycles. The extra performance is achieved via a reprogrammed Electronic Control Unit which uprates the fuel supply and alters the ignition timing.

As turbo boost is unaffected, engine strain is not increased, allowing Isuzu (UK) Limited to include PPP under its normal three year/60,000 mile warranty. Partly because of their clean and efficient engine combustion systems, all Rodeos have long service intervals of 12,000 miles including an oil change.

Launched in April this year, the facelifted Rodeo has won widespread praise for its refined and punchy new common-rail diesel engine, vastly improved ride comfort, stylish new front design and plush new interior.

Prices for the three-model range start at £13,990 for the Rodeo, with the mid-range Rodeo Denver Max costing £15,990 (both OTR but excluding VAT.)

2009 Civic Sedan review
The Civic’s base price of $15,505 compares favorably with its direct competitor, the Toyota Corolla ($15,350), the outgoing Mazda 3 i Sport ($15,360), and Hyundai Elantra GLS ($14,120). Fuel economy, ever important for buyers in this segment, is a frugal 26 city, 34 highway mpg. Notably, both the Ford Focus (24/35) and Chevrolet Cobalt XFE (25/37) achieve better highway mileage. The Cobalt is tops in its class for horsepower, too, with 155. The Civic’s 1.8L engine makes 140 hp.
